Advantage PCS Students

Sunday, October 1, 2023

Whenever I get asked the question “So, why Park Christian?” I think back to a big reason why we chose to send our twin daughters Hailey & Annika to PCS when they were getting near kindergarten age. We, like most parents, wanted to give our kids every advantage to succeed.  Our thought process was pretty simple:

Helping our kids make the choice to accept Jesus as their savior is what really matters so if we are lucky enough to find a school that truly lives that mission, then that is where we need to be.

When we made this decision we didn’t realize how special Park Christian would become to us, nor did we realize how influential continual faith based education is on students.

Jaclyn & I have been fortunate to have opportunities to be involved in a lot of activities at PCS that center around the students and we can tell you first hand that PCS is helping to raise up incredible kids.  The qualities that we see developing in these kids as they become young adults (and what I’m sure you do too) are genuinely unique. There is often a desire for extreme excellence at everything they do, there is an ability to balance intense academic &extra-curricular demands, an uncommon ability to communicate with adults, and most importantly a foundational understanding of who they are in Christ.

When the message of Christ is woven into the fabric of your daily life (like it is a PCS) it changes everything.  Attitudes change, motivations & expectations change, friendships change, and slowly lives begin to change. It’s because of this intersection of faith and academics that we like to say Park students have an unfair advantage.  Here’s why: Having a teacher pray with you in school when you are struggling is special.  Having a school full of faculty that have committed their lives to Jesus is special.  Being able to attend chapel during the school day is special.  Praying with other teams after sporting events is special. Knowing your teachers, coaches & leaders genuinely care for you is special, and having people praying for your future is special.  These things - and so many more - continue to build on top of each other and over time have a profound impact on our Park students.

These “special” things we often take for granted at PCS shape our kids' thoughts, actions & expectations.  They are also what make PCS such a unique place- one that we believe is truly one of a kind.

If you are reading this there is a good chance you are part of the PCS family.  However you are providing support, whether financially, prayerfully or giving of your time we want you to know that you are helping give our kids a huge advantage in life.  There is an eternal foundation being put in place that our kids will continue to build on for the rest of their lives and when they leave PCS they will use it as a launchpad to go and do amazing things.  If you’d like to see this for yourself just spend some time talking with our students and you will see exactly what we are talking about.
