25-YEAR ADVENTURE, The Greg & Laurie Stromme Family

Friday, November 5, 2021

Our Park Christian journey began in the Spring of 2000 when a friend from the gym invited us to the PCS Spring Banquet. We were impressed by the positive, Christian messages shared by the speakers; but it was the moment we heard three kindergarteners recite scripture from memory that touched our hearts, and the 25-year adventure began.

That next fall, we enrolled our oldest daughter, Kennedy, for kindergarten at the South Campus and have been part of the Park Christian Family ever since. All five of our children have attended from kindergarten through 12th grade, with all five attending at the same time for one year. When our oldest was a senior, our youngest was in kindergarten. To say that PCS has literally grown to be part of our family is an understatement.

The smaller school environment is a blessing that has allowed the staff and our family to get to know each other at a deeper level than most schools. First and foremost, we consider them friends. We cherish this close-knit relationship as it has allowed us to lean on them in time of crisis. A short time ago, our oldest daughter had a significant health scare, which prompted us to reach out to our Park Christian Family for prayer. We never hesitated because they have poured their love into our children for years as they shared in the experience of watching them grow from toddlers into adults.

The smaller environment has also given our children the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of activities, which can be an overlooked benefit of attending Park Christian. The school needs students to get involved, whether it be sports, band, choir, worship team, student council, etc.

Academically, we could not be more pleased. Park Christian has pushed our children to be the best they can be in the classroom, preparing them well for college and life there after. But most important are the spiritual benefits of attending Park Christian. Unlike some parochial schools, faith is woven into the very fabric of Park Christian School. Christ is present - in every corner of our school, every class, every sport, every activity, and every special event - and prayer is commonplace.

Ultimately, the responsibility of leading our children to a life of faith and salvation rests in our hands as parents, but it sure is nice to have Park Christian come alongside us to support what we are teaching them. This partnership has allowed us to raise imperfect children that are grounded firmly in Christ. We are now seeing the fruits of this investment as three of our grown children have become incredible adults, pursuing a relationship with Jesus, with a heart for people.

Our last child will graduate in 2025, which will represent 65 school years for our children. You may be inclined to ask about the cost of attending Park Christian, but we do not see it as a cost. We truly are investing in our children’s future and the legacy of our family. At times we had to stretch the budget, but Park’s administration was always willing to be flexible with us to work things out. We strongly believe that with the help of Park Christian, we have raised a family of God’s warriors, who will have a never-ending ripple effect for His kingdom.

It is the best investment we have ever made. We will be forever grateful for our time at Park Christian. To the staff and families of Park Christian, thank you. We love you!

Philippians 4:19 “And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”
