Clubs and Organizations

Park Christian School offers the following extra-curricular and co-curricular clubs and organizations for students:

Jr High Knowledge Bowl- Grades 7-8

The season runs from September to November. Practices are over the lunch time 1 – 2 days a week. Meets are held during the school day. Contact the Jr High Knowledge Bowl coach for details.

Sr High Knowledge Bowl – Grades 9-12

The season runs from December to mid-April. Practices are held at lunch 2 times a week during the season. 3 meets are held during the school day, culminating in subregions, regions, and state. PCS was the MN State Champ in 2004, runner up in 2003, 6th in 2018, and 5th in 2020! Contact the Sr. High Knowledge Bowl coach for details.

PaY (Philanthropy and Youth) – Grades 9-12

The vision for PaY is to inspire, lead, and share. PaY aims to develop the philanthropic spirit in high school students by cultivating passion and purpose through leadership skill development and proactive community impact. PaY is designed to introduce local high school students to the importance of leadership and service through grant-making. PaY engages students from high schools in Fargo-Moorhead, Detroit Lakes, and the surrounding area. Each PaY committee is allocated $6,000 to use for grantmaking in the community. Student-led committees identify areas of focus, research community nonprofits, and conduct site visits before deciding how to award their allotted grant dollars. PaY meets twice a month.

National Honor Society - Grades 10-12

The National Honor Society (NHS) recognizes students who demonstrate excellence in scholarship, character, service, and leadership. Students must provide documentation showing they have met these four pillars. Resume invitations are distributed in late February to students who meet the scholarship cutoff, and completed resumes with documentation are due at the end of March. The Induction Ceremony is held at the end of April. There is no fee to participate, but students are required to complete biannual highway cleaning for service hours—once in the spring and once in the fall. Please contact the NHS Advisor for details.

Student Council - Grades 7-12

Representatives are voted on for 7th-12th grades, in addition to a President and Vice President. Voting takes place in the spring. 6th-11th graders should see the PCS co-advisors for application and details. Meetings take place the 1st Thursday of the month during lunch as well as the 3rd Thursday for recycling pick up.

Student Council is responsible for planning Homecoming events, the Fill the Dome Food Drive, Falcon Fever Week, and other activities throughout the year.

Yearbook - Grades 7-12

All year. Students work collaboratively to create a yearbook that reflects the highlights of the school year. Students meet once a week during lunch and take a class spring semester. Contact the Yearbook Advisor for more information.

MathCounts – Grades 7-8

Each year, Park Christian School participates in the national MathCounts competition. The mission of MathCounts is to inspire excellence, confidence, and curiosity in middle school students through fun and challenging math problems. Seventh- and eighth-grade students complete the school-level competition test in math class. The top eight students practice for the regional contest from November to February during lunch or before or after school. If the students do well at regionals, which take place at MSUM in February, they advance to the state competition and could then move on to Nationals. There is no cost to participate.

Tri-College Math – Grades 7-12

Each year Park Christian School participates in the annual local Tri-College Math contest, which is held on a rotating basis at NDSU, MSUM, and Concordia. To represent our school at the competition, students take a qualifying test through math class. There are no scheduled practices for this contest. There is no cost to participate.

FIRST® LEGO® League Robotics – Grades 4-6

FIRST® LEGO® League sparks curiosity and confidence in young minds through hands-on STEM experiences. The FLL team meets twice a week from October to January after school. Contact the FLL coach for details. There is a cost to participate that can vary from year to year, depending on grants.

Olympic Lifting Club - Grades 7-12

Practices are typically three days a week. The team participates in approximately three local meets, and students can qualify for the State Lifting Meet. The season runs from November to February. There is a cost to participate. Please contact the weightlifting coach for details.
