The mission of Park Christian's mentor program is to connect each new family with an existing family. The host family is tasked with coming alongside, welcoming them to the school community, and helping make the transition as positive and successful as possible for all.
The Mentor family will call the new family at key times during the year, as directed by the program coordinator, offer to make themselves available to answer questions or connect them to someone who can help them, and attend the New Family Barbecue held on the Park Christian School front lawn, to meet their mentor family.
Examples of key topics in the communication plan include but are not limited to:
Mentors are not expected to know the answers to every question, but instead serve as a friendly and helpful resource to the new family. The mentor program is designed to assist the parents of new student(s); the mentor family's child(ren) is/are not expected to mentor the new student(s).
